Doing My Part

How I found my peace and purpose doing things for people.

My obsession with the Himalayan region in India goes back decades.

The rise of social media platforms like Facebook and my more frequent travels to some of these places enabled me to build a community of like-minded individuals who wanted to make REAL change!

I am a Human Rights and Women's Rights Activist. I have been the chairman and been a part of multiple NGOs in India. I currently work with multiple organizations like STROT, Himalayan Volunteer Tourism, NomadLawyers, HomeStays of India and many more to facilitate real change to people's lives in the mountains of India.

I have personally consulted, strategized and executed multiple projects ranging from creating dozens of libraries for children in villages; to organising educational outreach programs through learning centres; building schools for children, vaccination drives, building large scale Eco-Tourism projects and a whole lot more.

My latest obsession has been to write my journey and about the people who are driving real change - leaving their high paying jobs, or dedicating their lives to improving their people and their lands. To write about my experiences and travel journeys through this region and similar regions, I hope, gives some insight into the amazing people I have met along the way.

I want to write about their stories and give them a voice.

My Work

​

• Current Projects: Organizing a large scale cultural festival in the Himalayan region for children and young adults to train them in various life skills, job skills and to expose them to different fields of occupation. 

• Current project: Building libraries in remote locations (villages and towns) in the Himalayan region (Kashmir, Haryana, Ladakh, Himachal, Uttarakhand). The books have been procured through donations and drives in multiple metros. 

• Core Committee - Himalayan Volunteer Tourism. We organize various drives facilitating education, environment conservation, tourism and health in various regions. 

• Current project: Building and running online-based learning centres in the Tirthan Valley for underprivileged children teaching them various life skills, language skills and providing educational help. 

• Core Committee and Ex-President - SPECTRUM NGO (A Women Centric NGO) based in Pune, India. 

• Core Committee - SROT (An NGO effort making on-ground changes in the Himalayan Region)
